About Our CHHS Visual Arts Program:
Charles Henderson High School is pleased to offer students an in-depth experience of Visual Art. Painting, drawing, theory, expression and much more are all part of the experince students are able to explore through these classes.
Mr. Karvarus Moore is the Visual Art Teacher at CHHS. He brings a wealth of talent and knowledge to the classroom. Mr. Moore studied (MFA) Painting and Drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago as well as Troy University. He is a practicing artist himself.

Accolades
Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts officially purchased Class of 2025, Ashley Chen’s painting “Scarlett Lapis” for their student artwork collection.

Dakota Masoner and Adilynn Ryan, CHHS Visual Art students, received 1st place at the State Level for the VAAP Art Competition in 2025.
Additionally, for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition, Adilynn Ryan placed 2nd with her “Fruits of the Spirit” drawing.

Two 2025 Charles Henderson High School students have received memorial art scholarships. Dakota Masoner received the $1,000 Jean Lake Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Troy Arts Council. Ashley Chen was awarded a $500 TroyFest Scholarship in memory of Charles Adams. Jean Lake was a widely known folk artist and Charles Adams was a pioneer in glass art. Both were from Pike County.
